Hickory had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 36-29 win over the Jay M. Robinson Bulldogs on Friday. 36 seems to be a good number for the Red Tornadoes as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Hickory got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaheem Jenkins out in front who rushed for 168 yards and three TDs. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Rocket Brice was another key pass catcher, gaining 164 total yards.
Hickory's defense stepped up as well, laying out Aury Greenfield four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Jay M. Robinson's side was Landon Powell, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.
When it comes to explaining why Jay M. Robinson lost, don't look at Greenfield. Despite the final result, he rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 245 yards and one TD. A healthy portion of that aerial production (80 yards to be exact) went to Londyn McElroy.
