4A Region II District 13 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Royse City moved up to 764 from 802 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region II District 13. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Lovejoy 49-28.
The Leopards extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Royse City, 49-28. The win marks ninth in a row for the Lovejoy.
Sherman's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dru Smith threw for 318 and four touchdowns and Jt Luper had 181 yards receiving. On the ground Tre Mask chipped in 92 yards. Mask helped Sherman's passing attack out by catching four balls for 69 yards.
Sherman's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bearcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Smith has thrown for 3176 yards and 34 touchdowns this season, while Luper has 63 catches for 1173 yards. Mask leads the league in rushing with 1017 yards.
The top two teams in 4A Region II District 13 will face off this week when first place Lovejoy takes on second place Wylie East. Matt Green's team topped Greg Strahm's team last week, while Wylie East beat McKinney North.
Entering into this week's contest against the Raiders, Bowman Sells is short just 122 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Sells has thrown for 1878 yards with 21 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lovejoy takes on Wylie East. The Leopards have allowed 190 points this season, while Joe Lepsis' team has given up 262. Lovejoy allowed 28 points last week as it defeated the Bulldogs.
Denison and Greenville played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Denison eventually emerging with a 21-16 victory.
