Smithville fell victim to Giddings' stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They fell just short of the Buffaloes by a score of 1-0.
Meanwhile, La Grange entered their tilt with Rockdale with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. La Grange's defense stepped up to hand Rockdale a 1-0 shutout on Friday. La Grange's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.
Smithville's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5-1. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only scored one goal over those four matchups. As for La Grange, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4-4 record this season.
Smithville suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to La Grange in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can Smithville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
