The Summit SkyHawks will take on the Western Christian Fighting Lancers in a tournament on Wednesday.
University Prep hit Summit with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The SkyHawks took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars.
Audriana Botello made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Makayla Marrufo, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Western Christian came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Cats by a score of 8-4.
Kayden Quiroz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Quiroz was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christian Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Alina Antillion was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Western Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Western Christian's record now sits at 8-1. As for Summit, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Summit hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Western Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs.
