The Trinity Christian Gryphons will square off against the Quantico Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Trinity Christian has seven straight wins, Quantico has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Trinity Christian's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Episcopal by a score of 4-0.
Emma Sibert made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Sibert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Maddie Gilbert was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Chaplin, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Quantico's offense. They came up short against Seton on Monday, falling 27-0. Considering the last time the Warriors couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Quantico's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Trinity Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Quantico's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Trinity Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Quantico, though, as they've been averaging 13.6 hits. Given Trinity Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
Trinity Christian got the 'W' in their previous meeting on April 7th against Quantico by a conclusive 25-2 score. Will the Gryphons repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
