Basketball Recap: Columbine Beats Eaglecrest for Their Fourth Straight Win

Columbine won the last time they faced Eaglecrest and things went their way on Saturday too. The Columbine Rebels blew past the Eaglecrest Raptors 58-36. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season.

Columbine's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Abraham, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Abraham a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Washington, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Eaglecrest still got an impressive performance from Glorielle Mukeba, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Room Bile, who put up four points and three steals.

The win was the fourth in a row for Columbine, bringing their record for this year to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Eaglecrest, they moved to 6-3 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Columbine will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Erie at 4:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Eaglecrest also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Fruita Monument at 11:00 a.m. on January 4, 2025.
