It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tocoi Creek had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 63-56 win over the Mustangs. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Tocoi Creek found their leader in underclassman Audrey Beyer, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Beyer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Gabi Iturralde was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Even though Atlantic Coast has not done well against Creekside recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Atlantic Coast snuck past Creekside with a 52-48 win.
Tocoi Creek has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Atlantic Coast, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.
Tocoi Creek came up short against Atlantic Coast in their previous matchup back in January, falling 51-46. Can Tocoi Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
