Pleasant Hill extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 10-5. They never let the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Roosters/Chicks, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Devyn Younce made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JoeE Younce, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Natalie Hamilton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Pleasant Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
As for St. Michael the Archangel, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-10. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
On St. Michael the Archangel's side, Sophie Young spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits.
Coming up, Pleasant Hill will venture away from home to square off against Harrisonville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Roosters/Chicks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Michael the Archangel, they will face off against Lafayette at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
