I Section IV recap December 3, 2013
Mountain Pointe extended the longest winning streak in I Section IV this week by beating Hamilton, 42-19. This was the team's 14th consecutive win.
Mountain Pointe took down the Huskies 42-19 last week, the largest margin of any game. Antonio Hinojosa threw for 252 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 21 yards in the win.
Norris Vaughan's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Paul Lucas chipped in 161 yards. Emmanuel Butler helped Mountain Pointe's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 105 yards.
Lucas was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 161 yards on 13 carries as the Pride defeated Hamilton. Wesley Payne also contributed to the rushing game with 68 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Mountain Pointe's Hinojosa and Jalen Brown have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Hinojosa has thrown for 2,364 yards this season, while Brown has 52 catches for 1,229 yards. Brophy College Prep's Ryan Velez leads the league in rushing yards with 1,189.
In 138 carries Payne has put up 938 yards this year.
The Pride led I Section IV in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Steve Belles' team. Hinojosa ran for 21 yards during the win.
