Video: Archbishop Mitty highlights
Watch the third-ranked Monarchs defeat Presentation last week.
They lost current Stanford standout and 2018-19 McDonald's All-American Haley Jones to graduation.
But the Monarchs from Archbishop Mitty and coach Sue Phillips just continue to win as they did last week with two more victories to extend their win streak to 12. They moved up from No. 4 to No. 3 in the latest MaxPreps California girls basketball rankings.
Mitty won two games by 36 and 47 points last week and upped their season scoring average to 68 points per game. The Monarchs do that largely on the defensive end, where they average nearly 15 steals per game that they turn into transition baskets.
The Top 10 teams remained intact from last week with the exception of previous No. 8 Etiwanda which dropped to No. 11 despite two victories. Long Beach Poly (24-4) moved from No. 11 to No. 8 after wins over Long Beach rivals Wilson (72-39) and Millikan (62-38).
Top-ranked La Jolla Country Day improved to 24-1 with an 81-45 win over Bishop's as McDonald's All-American Te-Hina Paopao
had 23 points, 11 rebounds and six assists and freshman Breya Cunningham
added 16 points and 23 rebounds.
Most teams completed regular-season play last week and open section playoffs this week.
