Basketball Game Preview: Peachtree Academy Panthers vs. Trinity Christian School of Griffin LIONS

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Peachtree Academy Panthers take on the Trinity Christian School of Griffin LIONS at 7:30 p.m. on Monday... Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Peachtree Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell 71-63 to Westminster Christian Academy on Friday. Even though they lost, the Panthers' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.6 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Peachtree Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caleb Jackson went 7 of 16 en route to 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordi Bello, who posted 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Peachtree Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Meanwhile, Trinity Christian School of Griffin posted their biggest victory since December 16, 2023 on Saturday. They blew past Skipstone Academy, posting a 79-36 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the LIONS.

Trinity Christian School of Griffin's win came from a few key players Peachtree Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Israel Lockridge, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Lockridge is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least five every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Greene, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 15 points and six steals.

The victory got Trinity Christian School of Griffin back to even at 2-2. As for Peachtree Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Peachtree Academy has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26 boards per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian School of Griffin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.5 rebounds.
