Barker is 2-8 against Akron since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Barker Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Akron Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Akron took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Barker, who comes in off a win.
Even though Alden scored an imposing 61 points last Wednesday, Barker still came out on top. Barker secured a 65-61 W over Alden. The victory was just what Barker needed coming off of a 71-46 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Akron had to settle for a 50-47 loss against Pembroke on Wednesday. Akron has struggled against Pembroke recently, as their game on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Akron's defeat came about despite a quality game from Brale Abrams, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Lamont, who scored six points.
Barker's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Akron, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1.
Barker didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Akron when the teams last played back in February, but they still walked away with a 62-57 victory. Will Barker repeat their success, or does Akron have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
