The North Buncombe Black Hawks struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Asheville Cougars had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. North Buncombe fell 45-38 to Asheville. North Buncombe has not had much luck with Asheville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, North Buncombe had strong showings from Aubrey Gilliland, who scored six points along with four steals, and Edmonds Gracie, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Gilliland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Asheville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evie Bick, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds. Hayziah Dillingham was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals and two blocks.
North Buncombe's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Asheville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
North Buncombe will head out on the road to challenge A.C. Reynolds at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. A.C. Reynolds will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. As for Asheville, they will be playing at home against Erwin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
