Burns and Lingle-Fort Laramie are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Burns Broncs will head out on the road to take on the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Burns has struggled recently with 14 losses in a row, while Lingle-Fort Laramie will arrive with 11 straight wins.
Burns suffered their biggest loss since December 16, 2023 on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 59-37 defeat at the hands of Pine Bluffs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Burns has suffered against Pine Bluffs since February 9, 2018.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mason Medley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Parker Ochsner, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Lingle-Fort Laramie beat Morrill 58-47 on Tuesday. Given Lingle-Fort Laramie's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked eighth in Wyoming, while Morrill is ranked 136th in Nebraska), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burns' loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.
Burns came out on top in a nail-biter against Lingle-Fort Laramie in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 59-57. Will Burns repeat their success, or does Lingle-Fort Laramie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
