Mead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shadle Park Highlanders. On the bright side, the three- run effort marked the Panthers' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Lucius Spielman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Patton, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Mead's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Shadle Park, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mead will challenge rival University at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Shadle Park is set to square off against their familiar foe Mt. Spokane at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
