The Fort Bend Clements Rangers put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 victory over Ridge Point. Given Fort Bend Clements' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Ridge Point is ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fort Bend Clements was led to victory by Divine Ugochukwu and Aziz Olajuwon. Ugochukwu scored 25 points along with six rebounds, while Olajuwon scored 27 points. The game was Olajuwon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Mathews, who scored five points.
Fort Bend Clements' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Ridge Point, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-5-1.
Fort Bend Clements will head out on the road to face off against Fort Bend Bush at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Bush will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Ridge Point will be home for the holidays to greet Fort Bend Austin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Austin knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Ridge Point likes a good challenge.
