The Bethany Bronchos are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the St. John's Cadets. Bethany took a hard 63-46 fall against St. John's. Bethany's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Several Bronchos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keziah Lofton, who scored 24 points along with seven steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lofton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zya Vann, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Bethany struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Bethany's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for St. John's, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Bethany will take on Morris Catholic at 1:20 p.m. on Monday. Morris Catholic is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 68.5 points per game. St. John's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bishop McNamara at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Bishop McNamara knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully St. John's likes a good challenge.
