On Friday, Sunlake was able to grind out a solid win over Robinson, taking the game 62-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sunlake.
Christopher Murray was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Manntavius Goodman, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Robinson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Donevon Kelly, who scored 20 points, and Dylan Russell who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kelly has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Mickens, who scored ten points.
Sunlake's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Robinson, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunlake and Fivay will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fivay is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Robinson will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Sickles at 8:00 p.m. on January 9th. Sickles is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
