On Tuesday, Grenada ended up a good deal behind Coahoma County and lost 53-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grenada has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Grenada lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jarques Perry. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Perry's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Kelton Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Coahoma County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Hearns, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Hearns is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harlem Bell, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists.
Grenada bumped their record down to 6-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Coahoma County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Grenada will be playing at home against South Panola at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Panola has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. As for Coahoma County, they will head out on the road to face off against Rosa Fort at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rosa Fort will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Coahoma County is ranked 40th).
