Independence will head out on the road to face off against the Stone Bridge Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Independence can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Lightridge by a score of 51-39.
Grant Kunkle was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. JJ Johnson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Stone Bridge had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They put the hurt on Briar Woods with a sharp 65-42 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Stone Bridge has posted yet this season.
Independence's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Stone Bridge, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Independence was able to grind out a solid win over Stone Bridge when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 87-75. Will Independence repeat their success, or does Stone Bridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
