The GVCS Broadfording Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 81-40 defeat at the hands of Southern. GVCS Broadfording has not had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why GVCS Broadfording lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Shifler. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Camari White, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jared Haskiell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Haskiell pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Wilt, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
GVCS Broadfording dropped their record down to 5-20 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Southern, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
GVCS Broadfording will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sentinels at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Fort Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matchups. As for Southern, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
