The First Academy Eagles managed to keep up with the Redeemer Christian Lions until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. First Academy ended up on the wrong side of a rough 42-21 walloping at the hands of Redeemer Christian. First Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Redeemer Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Despite the loss, First Academy still got an impressive performance from Avery Weaver, who scored 9 points. Weaver scored a full 42.9% of First Academy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Addison Schwartz was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Redeemer Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Selena Martin out in front who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Cami Satterfield, who scored 13 points.
First Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Redeemer Christian, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. First Academy will take on Crooms Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Redeemer Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
