Liberty has gone 9-1 against Chowchilla recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Hawks will challenge the Tribe at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Liberty's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Yosemite with a sharp 15-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three matchups in a row.
The team relied heavily on Carley Hedstrom, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Leilah Uriarte, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Liberty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Chowchilla made easy work of Minarets on Tuesday and carried off a 19-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tribe in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.
Lexyss Sabin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Rylee Vlot was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. April Miller also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Liberty pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chowchilla, their record is now 11-8.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Chowchilla struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Liberty's way against Chowchilla when the teams last played on April 4th, as Liberty made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
