The Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels will face off against the Arlington Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tipton-Rosemark Academy comes in on four and Arlington on three.
On Wednesday, Tipton-Rosemark Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Benedict at Auburndale, taking the game 7-2.
Lanie Howe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Peyton Sykes was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Addie Thorpe, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Tipton-Rosemark Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while Arlington put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Southwind. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Jaguars. Considering the Tigers have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Tipton-Rosemark Academy, Arlington also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklyn Knight. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Knight has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Morgan Cooper was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Brooklyn Evans was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Tipton-Rosemark Academy's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-14-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, their win bumped their record up to 12-10-2.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tipton-Rosemark Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tipton-Rosemark Academy beat Arlington 9-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
