Jay Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Branford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Jefferson County get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Thursday. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Jackson Skinner made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Skinner was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Kyler Williamson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jake Watkins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Branford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson County only posted an OBP of .188.
Branford's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wakulla Christian School, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wakulla Christian School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Branford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
