Burncoat's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Koza, who threw for 129 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. Koza's passing game has become a key predictor of the Patriots' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise. Kaleb Casey was in the mix as well, providing Burncoat with two scores.
Burncoat's run defense was locked in: St. Paul could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. The Patriots' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.1.
Meanwhile, Blackstone-Millville earned a 13-6 victory over Oxford on Friday.
Burncoat better keep an eye on Karson Cournoyer. He was instrumental in Blackstone-Millville's win, rushing for 52 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, while also throwing for 94 yards and one TD. Cournoyer also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending one pass.
Blackstone-Millville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Owen Leonard and Ismael Diaz.
Burncoat's record is now 3-4. As for Blackstone-Millville, their record now sits at 5-2.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Burncoat has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 152.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Blackstone-Millville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 160 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Burncoat lost to Blackstone-Millville on the road by a decisive 22-6 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2021. Thankfully for the Patriots, Daniel Lawton (who rushed for 163 yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
