South Loup had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 40-33 win over Twin Loup on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as South Loup also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Leading South Loup to victory were Delaney Rogers and Bryn Schwarz. Rogers dropped a double-double on 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Schwarz scored 19 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Reiff, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Twin Loup saw an underclassman step up: Carsen Vincent scored 9 points.
South Loup's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Twin Loup, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Loup will take on Amherst at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Twin Loup, they will head out on the road to face off against Sandhills/Thedford at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
