The Eastern Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Holy Cross Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Eastern's victory against Atherton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Ravens on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now won five in a row.
Madisyn Longworth and Gracie Jeffcoat did most of the damage at the plate: Longworth went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Jeffcoat went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaylin McGregor, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Thursday. Holy Cross put the hurt on Bullitt Central with a sharp 19-4 win.
Taylor Fint made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Fint was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Piersan Shrader was incredible, going 5-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Alyssa Priddy was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.
Holy Cross' record is now 2-0. As for Eastern, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Eastern might still be hurting after the 23-3 loss they got from Holy Cross in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
