On Wednesday, the Scammon Bay Eagles faced the Nelson Island Islanders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Scammon Bay strolled past Nelson Island with points to spare, taking the game 99-80. The victory was familiar territory for Scammon Bay who now have four in a row.
Leading Scammon Bay to victory were Josiah Sundown and Stewie Sundown. Sundown scored 26 points, while Sundown scored 31 points. Sundown is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aiden George, who scored eight points.
Scammon Bay's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Nelson Island, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.
Scammon Bay's road trip will continue as they head out to face Chevak at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. One thing working in Chevak's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. Nelson Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
