The Willow Glen Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Willow Glen is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
While Willow Glen's win against Westmont wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Warriors 4-2.
Alanna Clincy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Catalina Medina, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Maia Mendoza was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Willow Glen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westmont struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archbishop Mitty). They blew past Clovis West 13-0 on Saturday. The Monarchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Kyleigh Mace tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Makayla (MJ) Fikes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Adelle Duncan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Willow Glen's record now sits at 7-0. As for Archbishop Mitty, their record is now 11-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Willow Glen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Archbishop Mitty struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Willow Glen skirted past Archbishop Mitty 1-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
