The Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers won the last time they faced the Monessen Greyhounds, and things went their way on Friday too. Chartiers-Houston walked away with a 47-35 victory over Monessen. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Chartiers-Houston.
Chartiers-Houston found their leader in underclassman Amelia Brose, who scored 16 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Capozzoli, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Several Greyhounds players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was MyAsia Majors, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Avanti Stitch was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Monessen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chartiers-Houston only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Chartiers-Houston pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Monessen, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Chartiers-Houston will look to defend their home court on Monday against Carmichaels at 6:30 p.m. Carmichaels will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 625th, while Chartiers-Houston is ranked 234th). As for Monessen, they will take on Westinghouse at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
