Kent Denver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Yianni Balafas, who threw for 230 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.1% of his passes. Rex Corkins did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and three extra points.
Another reason for the win was Kent Denver's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Tripp Skewes and Nicholas Buchenau who racked up four sacks between them.
Kent Denver's win was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. As for The Classical Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kent Denver will take on Englewood at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Englewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Kent Denver is ranked 50th). As for The Classical Academy, they will be playing at home against Elizabeth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
