Ritchie County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Sherman Tide at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Ritchie County is ranked 87th, while Sherman is ranked 86th).
Last Friday, Ritchie County took a serious blow against Cameron, falling 50-13. Ritchie County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-0.
Despite their defeat, Ritchie County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bodhi Utter, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, was perhaps the best of all. Bryce Newbrough was another key contributor, picking up 102 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Sherman never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Meadow Bridge last Friday. They blew past the Wildcats 32-12. The result was nothing new for Sherman, who have now won three contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Sherman can attribute much of their success to Andrew Simpson, who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and Trey Lester, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry.
Ritchie County has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Sherman, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
