Paul Saffer and Dane White stepped up to the plate in a big way. Saffer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, while White went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. White is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Johnny Abramian, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Mica Mountain waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 16-2 victory.
Mica Mountain also got a great performance from Ryan McCammond as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. McCammond also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Thunderbolts are 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-8-1 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Raydon Rocha was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Mikey Tanori was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.
Mica Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
Salpointe Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-3-1 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Mica Mountain, the win got them back to even at 10-10-1.
Everything went Salpointe Catholic's way against Mica Mountain in their previous matchup back in March, as Salpointe Catholic made off with a 10-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
