The Soquel Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Scotts Valley Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Soquel will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Harbor, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Knights walked away with a 3-1 win over the Pirates on Thursday. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Pirates on their court since September 15, 2022.
While Soquel might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Harbor scored at least 21 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22.
Soquel's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gemma Reyes, who had 16 digs and two aces, and Natalie Barry, who had six digs and three aces. That's the most aces Barry has posted over her last seven matches.
They weren't the only good servers: Soquel was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Scotts Valley had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Trailblazers with a sharp 3-0 victory.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Scotts Valley took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-7, 25-7.
Scotts Valley's record is now 10-3. As for Soquel, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Soquel might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Scotts Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
