Arroyo is a perfect 3-0 against Mt. Eden since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Dons will square off against the Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. Arroyo is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
On Wednesday, Arroyo beat San Leandro 7-4. That's two games straight that the Dons have won by exactly three runs.

Sadie Fernandez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ariana Rocha, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Hailey Howard was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Berkeley hit Mt. Eden with a five-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Monarchs lost 11-1 to the Yellowjackets. The Monarchs haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Mt. Eden saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Cruz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Arroyo pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Eden, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Mt. Eden's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arroyo has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Mt. Eden, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Arroyo's sizable advantage in that area, the Monarchs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Arroyo took their victory against Mt. Eden when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
