AAAAA Region 6 recap October 22, 2013
Tucker extended the longest winning streak in AAAAA Region 6 this week by beating Southwest DeKalb, 60-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
North Atlanta fell to Arabia Mountain 54-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Mays's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ayinde Russell threw for 134 and 2 touchdowns and Deparis Carter had 122 yards receiving. On the ground Rowmartis Bell contributed 69 yards.
Carter was the best receiver in the league this week as the Raiders beat Dunwoody. Carter racked up 3 receptions for 122 yards.
Mays' Russell and Tyshawn Brown have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Russell has thrown for 1,119 yards this season, while Brown has 21 catches for 339 yards. Lakeside's Kellyen Walker leads the league in rushing yards with 440.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Corey Jarvis' team's Brown goes up against the Vikings' Javarus Wesley.
Next week's game between the Raiders and Lakeside will feature an aerial matchup as Russell tests his arm against Wesley's defensive ability.
An important game coming up in AAAAA Region 6 this week will be when M.L. King takes on Stephenson. As it stands, the Lions are in third, while the Jaguars are in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Heath Hinton's team and Mays face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Vikings comes in having scored 78 this season, while the Raiders have scored 215. Lakeside scored 14 points last week as it lost to M.L. King.
Tucker led the league in scoring this week after putting up 60 points on the Panthers.
