The First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Redeemer Christian Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
First Assembly Christian Academy put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 68-21 victory over Northside Christian Academy. Given First Assembly Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Northside Christian Academy is ranked 609th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
First Assembly Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wooden out in front who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Wooden has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Quintin Roberts, who scored eight points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Redeemer Christian beat Warner Christian Academy 61-48 on Saturday. The victory was just what Redeemer Christian needed coming off of a 73-46 defeat in their prior matchup.
Redeemer Christian relied on the efforts of Davis Lehman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Beau Suarez, who scored 26 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lehman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Miller-Edwards, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds.
The win was the third in a row for First Assembly Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 13-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.67 points. As for Redeemer Christian, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: First Assembly Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Redeemer Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.4 rebounds per game.
