Basketball Recap: Lumberton's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lumberton extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Nate Lawson. The Pirates skirted past the Overhills Jaguars 58-56 thanks in part to Lawson, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 21 points. Lawson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Overhills saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jermane Griffin went 6-for-10 en route to 15 points and seven boards. Kaiden Ward also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Lumberton's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Overhills, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Lumberton will be playing at home against South View at 7:30 p.m. on December 3. As for Overhills, they will face off against Freedom Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 85.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
