Mead is 5-0 against the Warriors since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Mead Mavericks will head out on the road to take on the Centaurus Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Mead knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Warriors like a good challenge.
Last Friday, Mead didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Raptors, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory.
Mead's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Angelo, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Angelo hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Dominic McLawrence was another key contributor, scoring five points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Centaurus pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Holy Family. Centaurus has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mead pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Centaurus, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Mead against the Warriors when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 62-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mead since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
