2A District 2 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Justin Hamilton of Hancock County ran for the longest rushing play in 2A District 2 this season against Butler County last week. Hamilton's team bested the Bears as he sprinted for 63 yards on the play and finished with 251 in all.
Owensboro Catholic extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating McLean County, 64-8. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Hancock County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Koert Morris threw for 145 yards and Hamilton had 79 yards receiving. Ben Basham helped Hancock County's passing attack out by catching one ball for 29 yards.
Hancock County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hornets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Morris has thrown for 959 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Hamilton has 19 catches for 268 yards. Hamilton leads the league in rushing with 1183 yards.
Owensboro Catholic took down the Cougars 64-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
