Rowan County is 9-1 against Russell since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Vikings will take on the Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rowan County comes in on five and Russell on three.

Aaron Pennington made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Mason Havens was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Brody Lykins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Rowan County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Russell never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Lewis County 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Lokelio Ancheta, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden McGowen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Rowan County's record is now 11-7. As for Russell, their record now sits at 11-4.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rowan County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Russell struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rowan County came out on top in a nail-biter against Russell when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
