The Maplewood Tigers will square off against the Rocky Grove Orioles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Maplewood will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Maplewood came out on top against Cochranton on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since May 12, 2025.
Kyle Jordan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other pitching news, Zander Andromalos looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Elijah Hochstetler was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Maplewood is 4-1 when Hochstetler posts one or more home runs, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Koelle, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Rocky Grove was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of DuBois Central Catholic. The Orioles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Rocky Grove's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Maplewood, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Maplewood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rocky Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Maplewood's way against Rocky Grove when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Maplewood made off with a 12-1 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Orioles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
