Old Mill has gone 6-1 against Severna Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Patriots will head out to square off against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Old Mill will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Old Mill is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat North County 49-0. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Knights are ranked 167th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Old Mill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makel Wilder led the charge by picking up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in a pair of scores on the ground. Wilder was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 54 yards. Meech Jones was in the mix as well, providing Old Mill with two TDs.
Meanwhile, Severna Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Mustangs 44-7. With that victory, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 26.4 points per game.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jonathan Wark and Graham Guenther. Wark rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns while Guenther rushed for 58 yards and one score. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Wark a new career-high.
Severna Park was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Severna Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Landon Williams and Kamari Brown. Noah Croghan was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making six total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Severna Park now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Old Mill, their record now sits at 5-0.
Everything came up roses for Old Mill against Severna Park when the teams last played back in October of 2022, as the squad secured a 35-0 win. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
