The Credo Gryphon are on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-26, which was the final score in Credo's tilt against Piner on Friday. Credo has not had much luck with Piner recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Credo saw an underclassman step up: Maya Leach scored 8 points. Leach scored a full 30.8% of Credo's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of June Guthrie, who scored 5 points.
Meanwhile, Rio Lindo Adventist didn't have too much trouble with Tomales at home on Wednesday as they won 34-19. The victory was just what Rio Lindo Adventist needed coming off of a 54-20 loss in their prior contest.
Rio Lindo Adventist can attribute much of their success to Kaia Miller, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds, and Belen Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. The game was Hernandez's third in a row with at least ten points.
Credo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Rio Lindo Adventist, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Credo haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Rio Lindo Adventist, though, as they've been averaging 22.2 per game. Given Credo's sizeable advantage in that area, Rio Lindo Adventist will need to find a way to close that gap.
