Baseball Game Preview: Rocklin Thunder vs. Folsom Bulldogs

The Rocklin Thunder will head out to challenge the Folsom Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rocklin will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Rocklin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Jesuit on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-2 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Troy Ueltzen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Colby Pudge, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Espen Gaines also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Folsom scored first but ultimately less than Granite Bay in their contest on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 9-7. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Folsom also got a good showing from Jacob Klapper, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Logan Hutton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Gavin Tietz was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Rocklin's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Folsom, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Rocklin skirted past Folsom 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunder since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
