The Camelback Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Dobson Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Dobson took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Camelback, who comes in off a win.
Camelback came out on top against Carl Hayden Community on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Spartans put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 11-1 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Sergio Bacame was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Axel Serrano and Cash Cachola did most of the damage at the plate: Serrano went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Cachola got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those three RBI gave Serrano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaime Reyna, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Camelback was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-3 to Mesa.
Steven Sthormes was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he has got this season.
Dobson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Camelback, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
Camelback's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Spartans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Dobson, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Camelback continue to outrun the ball?
Camelback suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Dobson when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
