The Jacksonville Crimsons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 12th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 62-32 loss at the hands of Jersey. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jacksonville in their matchups with Jersey: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Crimsons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zara Harper, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Laila Cook, who scored nine points.
Jersey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Meredith Gray out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Gray hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Smith, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Jacksonville dropped their record down to 1-21 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Jersey, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Jacksonville will be playing at home against Illini Central/Greenview at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Illini Central/Greenview has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Jersey, they will square off against Granite City at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Granite City has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11.
