After a string of four wins, the Monte Vista Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 70-55 to Christian Brothers. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Alyssa Rudd and Rachel Brans certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Rudd dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Brans scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Rudd is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Naliyah Sefidi, who scored nine points.
Christian Brothers was led to victory by Joy Omishakin and Aleyah Harmon. Omishakin dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Harmon scored 27 points along with five assists and two steals. Harmon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Novi, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Christian Brothers, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.
Monte Vista will head out on the road to challenge the Matadors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granada is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Christian Brothers, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McNair will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 514th, while the Falcons are ranked 109th).
