The Pathways Eagles will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Southland Christian FLAMES at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pathways can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 62-35 victory over Joshua Christian Academy. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-15.
Pathways' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlos Escalera, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Steven Edwards, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Southland Christian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Vine Christian Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 74-73 to the Kings. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (66), Southland Christian still had to take the loss.
Pathways has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. As for Southland Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-9.
Pathways ended up a good deal behind Southland Christian in their previous meeting back in January, losing 71-55. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Southland Christian's Juan Rios, who scored 29 points along with four steals. Now that Pathways knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
